Radio and music online: help Radioways

0.1 - Television: beta version of a June 17, 2011 :

Explanations :
TV WMP: they are with TV stream requires Windows Media Player plugin
TV VLC: these are TVs with video stream requires the plugin Lan.

To see if the TV is vlc or wmp:
- If the TV is playing, you click "info radio" below the player
- If not in the search: http://www.radioways.com/#finder, when you view the results, the information is in the second column on the left.


0.1 - Installing plugins :
Unlike radio qs + (Quick Stream), televisions require the installation of the plugin or WMP plugin VLC (depending on the television).

0.2 - Thumbnail, zoom and full screen :
By default, the TV displayed very small sticker that allows you to listen and keep browsing the site. You have two opportunities to expand the image:

- a - Medium zoom (inside the right window): just click on the button located below the "play" button

- b - Full Screen zoom : just click on the button located above the "play" button

TVs WMP : You can exit full screen using the button "ESC"
TVs VLC : You can exit full screen mode by closing the pop-up. You can also use the F11 key to hide the top bar.
F11 to exit, or click F11 again, or you mount the mouse on top of the screen.

0.3 - Search TV :
- How to search?
You click on the "search" to the top, you have two buttons:

- "Search Name" :
allows enter the name of the TV (or radio) and displays the result (at least 3 characters)

- "Advanced Search" :
You can select the first criterion "type" for example, then you select "TV".
Then you can refine by choosing the country and / or genre

0.4 - Quality of TV :
The quality of TV is given by the indication "kbps" (kilobits per second) is the size of the allocated flow gives an indication of the quality of the image.
Quality vary between 200 kbps and 5000 kbps.
This flow depends on the decision of the television and not us. We only collect and reference streams.
It should be noted that the rate will increase gradually as the speed adsl increase and fiber optics are set up.
Remember, if your flow is not strong enough, a very high resolution may block your browser.

This may arise from different factors:
1. Your Internet connection is slow, check that you can load other sites.
2. Facebook module block loading. In which case please try again a few minutes later.


Important Note: The first loading of the site can be a little long due to the Flex module loading the site (loading only occurs the first time and may take several minutes).

After some playing time, the site may give way to a blank page with an exclamation point.




This is a known bug of Adobe flash.

Meanwhile, simply reload the page and launch the site again.


Note rare and special cases for some IE browsers:
Under certain rare version of Internet Explorer, when you restart radioways, it could display a message asking you to reinstall flash.
It is a misinterpretation. You do not need to reinstall flash.
To solve the problem, you can:
- Or use another browser (Chrome, Firefox) until you restart your pc
- Or simply reboot the PC. Internet Explorer does not ask you for more reinstall flash.

Radioways uses the latest web development technologies based on Flex and Flash, enabling certain features necessary for optimal ease of use of radio listening or viewing television. In particular, the sequential navigation while listening to a radio to perform other tasks (research, playlists, etc. ..).
It also allows us to use our advanced proprietary Quick-stream "and" Quick Search "(see summary) very useful for optimal comfort of use.

The Flex technology requires installation of Flash Player, used by many site new generation and now essential to web browsing and multimedia experience. To install Flash Player, we offer two methods:

1st method: it is to do the site owner directly from Adobe (version greater than or equal to 10):

2nd method: In some versions of Firefox, the first method you may see a message like "application/getplusplusadobe16291 is unknown". We therefore recommend that you download and install the two modules directly from flash:

Important Note 1: necessary plugin for the proper functioning of a radio is displayed in the column plugin, when viewing lists of radio stations (except on the home page, where the majority of streams are qs + (quick stream).

You have four types of indications.
- 1. QS + (quick stream):
It is an exclusive innovation Radioways, it allows you to listen to the radio without the plug in any platform (PC, Mac, Linux). We put it on the radio the most popular and most radios homepage. Over the radio starts instantly.


- 2. WMP (windows media player).
It only applies if you're using Windows:

- If you're using Internet Explorer: no need to download a plugin (except Windows Media player version 9 which is higher than normally installed by default), otherwise a "Windows update" you will put updated.

- 3. VLC (videolan):
This plugin will be useful especially if you are under Macintosh or Linux to read all the streams that are not + qs. You will also be useful in Windows to play the radios that are neither qs + nor wmp.

- 4. NULL:
This box displays indicating Mac and Linux for the very rare case of radio stations (less than 1%) that are not readable on Mac or Linux.


Important Note 2:
Normally, our automatic detection system will display a pop-up offering you the right plug-in.
In the very rare and particularly where this detection system did not work (Windows lightened or security pop-up blocking, etc ...), a message "unavailable" displayed when playing some radio stations.
You can then visit the links above to install the right plug-in.


In summary:
- Windows:
- Qs + for the most popular radio stations (no plugin needed), then wmp for most of the other and finally vlc 10% radios that are neither qs + or wmp.

- Macintosh or Linux:
- Qs + for the most popular radio stations (no plugin needed), then vlc for others.

a. Add to Favorites under Internet Explorer
Just click on the "favorites" in the taskbar, then "bookmark"
Tip: you can click the star to the left of the favorites tab of the current page, then bookmark.

b. Add to Favorites under Google Chrome
Right in the address bar, there is a small empty star, simply click on it.
Otherwise you can click on the "favorites" in the taskbar, then "bookmark".
Tip! : use the shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + B (Windows and Linux) or Shift-#-B (Mac) to display the favorites bar, it's very convenient!
If you have this bar, just click on the icon to the left of the site address, and move the bar.

Playlists and files:
On the left, below the player, you have a space "my radio". This space allows users to create their own playlists of radio stations.
These can be organized into folders.
Important:
- You can create two folder trees.
- Radios can be added only in playlists. So you must first create a playlist to start adding radios.
- You can add a radio in a folder.

In summary:
- To create a folder, just move to my radio in space, the file (with a "+") located right under the "My Radio"
- Then we must create a playlist by moving a folder or elsewhere, the music note (with a "+") located right under the "My Radio"
- Finally, to add a radio playlist, two solutions:
1. Either you move the radio in the playlist
2. Let you select the playlist (a rectangle appears around), then you click the "+"to the right of the radio.

The search for your favorite stations may be based on two criteria:

1. Search by name radio:

We have developed an advanced algorithm "quick search" enabling real-time display and instant results. You do not have to 'send' button: as as you type letters, the results appear.

Note 1: you must type at least 3 characters. The space is reflected in the characters.
Note 2: You do not need to type accents, we will post all results for all traits, with and without accents. Similarly, the case is not taken into account, we will post all results both uppercase and lowercase.


2. Search by type and / or countries and / or type:

Important: to quickly find a kind, we have listed all kinds of rankings and family. Click here for the list.

2.1 Definitions:

a - Country: is the country where the radio. It should be noted that a radio can be kind of "Irish music" for example, while in France ... To simplify, we have grouped the countries by continent (5 tabs at the top of the frame).

b - Genre:
This is the kind that the radio broadcasts. To simplify the research, we have grouped the types into categories (3 tabs at the top of the frame):
- B.1 - Music: what are the major musical genres (rock, pop, etc. ...), apart musical genres that fall under the category "Music world "(tropical, Latino, etc ...) that you find in the" world music "
- B.2 - Theme: these are thematic or community radio: news, business, religions, students, comedy, etc ...
- B.3 - World Music: all the music of specific countries or continents, tropical, Indian, Latin, Asian, etc. ..

Note 1: We chose to classify reggae, reggaeton, tropical, Latin (salsa, bachata, etc. ..) in the "world music".
Note 2: Genres are displayed alphabetically by by traversing from left to right and top to bottom.

c. Type:
This criterion allows you to select the FM radio and / or radio stations.
Note: This test is only displayed in second or third search criterion, but not first.


2.2 How to select your search criteria:
You can search starting at the choice by genre or country.

a. Choice of Criterion:
Simply select the first drop-down your first criterion.
A window opens so you can check your or your selections.

Note 1: You can not go to the dropdown menu to select a second criterion, without having at least one box checked.
Note 2: You can check more than 10 boxes.
Note 3: The criterion of choice "type of radio" is available only from the second drop-down menu.
Note 4: You can stop the first criterion, no obligation to choose three criteria.

The results are displayed in real time as and when you tick the boxes.
You can then close the selection window.

b. Choice the second criterion:
Same procedure, you select your criteria from the dropdown menu. Can you check your choice in the selection window (minimum 1 and maximum choice 10 choices).

2. If your radio is online and you want to modify

The message "Unavailable " means that you can not read streaming radio on your browser.
- Either you do not have the proper plugin (but normally we display a window indicating you and telling you how to do)
- Or, if you have the correct plugin, then there is a filtering flow from your network.

We have identified this as the following restrictions:
- Key SFR 3G, playback restrictions on certain streams and VLC wmp
- Hotspot SFR / Neuf WiFi: playback restrictions of certain flows wmp and vlc stream most

1. Microbreaks regular intervals during the play or stop after several seconds:

1.1 Solution 1:
Do "break" a few seconds and then "play" again.
This is often due to the very rapid spread in quick stream, the buffer has not had time to load.

1.2 Solution 2:
If the radio stops automatically after a few seconds (and when you pause / play, it repeats the same song or it no longer starts) is that the Flash player was badly initialized and kept in buffer the same song. It happens more frequently when there is another flash process (on another site for example: advertising, flash, etc. ..)
For this, you must exit the browser (close all other pages too). Then run Radioways. Everything should return to normal.

1.3 Solution 3:
We have added alternative streams of listening to respond to your configuration.
To find these streams, you can go to the radio (Radio tab at the top of the site). You'll have results in alternations of stream of different type (qs + wmp or vlc) and flow (24, 56, 64, 128kbps, etc. ..)
For example, Fun Radio, you will have the result below, with options qs Quick Stream at 64k, 96k and 128k or wmp (Windows Media Player requires installation of the plugin if you're not on IE) or VLC (plugin for Windows, Mac and Linux)



1.4 If the problem persists:

2. Break the radio after a while listening (1 hour or two):
A very large number of radios have set up a "timer" that mutes the sound or stop the spread of the stream after a certain period of listening (usually several hours). This is to avoid posting abusive, false or "forgotten" radios.

3. Blank page and exclamation point after a certain time to listen:
